- Adaptec Inc. (NASDAQ:ADPT) provides highly available storage access solutions that reliably move, manage and protect critical data and digital content. Their storage solutions are found in high-performance networks, servers, workstations and are sold to ISPs, enterprises, medium and small businesses and consumers. Robert Cox, Marketing Manager for Adaptec's Storage Solutions Group, discusses Adaptec's new Ultra320 SCSI ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit). This new chip bolsters data transfer rates and minimizes the overhead of handling data and commands under the Ultra320 SCSI protocol. Adaptec's new family of Ultra320 SCSI controllers uses this chip to deliver 320 megabyte-per-second performance for everything from workstations to high-end enterprise computers. The controllers feature Adaptec's HostRAID technology to enhance system performance and uptime. Plus the cards support the Ultra160 SCSI, Ultra2 SCSI, and Ultra SCSI protocols.
